American Shorthair Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lila is a 10 year old American Shorthair. She enjoys being outside for long periods of time and always comes home, but prefers to be an indoor cat. She goes absolutely crazy for bacon or any salty chips. She has always been healthy and on the light weight side. She had bursts of playfulness with toys. She is litter box trained as well, and will eat most any kind of cat food. Shes a sweet cat and loves to be pet, and when shes really happy, she will drool. We are only giving her up for adoption because we are moving into an apartment where she would not be happy. She would be a great companion for any owner of any age.

Rescue Me ID: 18-01-09-00369Auggie (male)

American Shorthair Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Auggie and his siblings were found under a porch and brought to an animal shelter, Spring 2016. They were too young to be taken in, but a Good Samaritan took the litter into her home to bottle feed them for the summer. Once they were of age, I adopted Auggie's sister, Gigi in September 2016. The rest of his siblings found homes except for him. The Good Samaritan asked if I could take him. She already had 5 cats, & didn't have room for him. I accepted, thinking, 'what's one more?' I had his sister and one other cat, so with Auggie that's three cats in the house. Well, it turns out I took on more than I could manage. I work full time and have ... (Read More)a toddler to care for. Auggie was misbehaving, causing unbelievable messes, destroying my daughter's toys even though he has plenty of cat toys. He dominated the other two female cats when it came to mealtime. It's gotten to the point where it's causing a rift in my marriage. It's not Auggie's fault. I just don't have the time to train him and keep him properly. He's bored and food driven. He managed to get the bag of cat food from the pantry by snagging the bag and pulling it under the door. He's broken a lamp, chewed the hand off of a barbie doll, and many other no- no's. He won't stay off the counters and every discipline technique I try doesn't seem to phase him. So, now he is either outside or locked in the laundry room when it's below 32 degrees, which is not a way to live. Outside cats only live 3-5 years... there are foxes, coyote, other dogs, cats, cars, & poison outside. I fear something will eventually get him. Auggie needs and deserves a better home. He really is very loving, friendly and laidback. He loves to play, and he has the loudest purr. As you can see from the photo, he is very tolerable with small children. He's a big boy and loves food. The last vet appointment this Spring, they said he could use to loose a couple of pounds. He's ok with his sister and my other female cat, but I can't say the same for cats he doesn't know. I recently found out that he's terrorized the neighbor's dog, who is way bigger than Auggie. SMH- I don't know what to say about that. He doesn't seem fearful of anything, which is good and bad. The lawnmower and vacuum don't seem to phase him. He didn't like the outside at first, but he has since discovered the thrill of the hunt. He has successfully hunted chipmunks and lizards. He would be a great barn cat. (Less)

Meet Geoff, our resident lover boy, who came to us with a very serious injury to his paw that unfortunately could not be salvaged and resulted in his leg having to be amputated. But please don't tell him he's special, he wants nothing more than to love and be loved. As with all our cats, we expect our our nutritional protocols established for her to be continued for Geoff. Our rescue MANDATES Titer Testing prior to administering any more than ONE RABIES VACCINATION in our pet's lifetime. So if you allow your vet to blindly administer annual vaccinations (in fact mal-practice) in the absence of affordable titer testing with Kansas State, ... (Read More)please refrain from contacting us. The well being of our pets is our top priority so our protocols for proper nutrition and responsible vaccination practices to ensure no chance of overdosing and over vaccination of our pets, is our #1 objective along with their happiness.
